This is a 1950s (dated 1955) British War Department contract piece for the British Army in the post WW2 / Cold War period. The style of jacket is called a “Battledress” which were introduced in WW2 but were kept in service into the 1960s.

I picked this jacket up in an area that has lots of Tamil people, so I was lowkey hoping the Tigre painted on the back was some sort of Tamil Tigres insignia or something- but the tigre on the jacket is far too friendly to match. Id guess its just a random thing, or maybe maybe for a zoo keeper lol
